The End of An Era
The Clothes Quarters will be closing their doors on June 11, 2025.  The building was named by Elsie Seaman – a founding member of Our lady of the Angels. Many parishioners do not know that this was a ministry started by Sr. Joan and Sr. Joyce 40 years ago.  Part of the mission was to help those in need of clothing AND money raised was used for community/parish needs. Money raised was used for a variety of needs (and still is) – Food baskets, food for the Alternative High School, KMS/Mountain View family Christmas needs, sponsoring high school students to go on Youth trips, donations to OLA for outreach services just to mention a few.  Many Parishioners who have passed away or moved away helped to man the building by sorting and selling clothes:  Bev Blanning, Nora Satathite, Ramona Efta, Mary Quesnel, Lucy Stanton, Teresa Colton, Nancy DuPaul, Cheryl Hammarstrom, Karla Smith, Jessica & Eileen Bryson, Julie Karpik, Mary Jeanne Yragui, Carol Louthan, Jennifer Dye, Dee Timlin, Oliveah and Ocean Braun, Chris Monfor, Coleen Moomie, Linda Groleskie, Joan Seaman, Karen Fogarty, Kathy Rogers and many more. Now, we are unable to get parishioners to volunteer one Wednesday every other month.  The building is in poor condition and has become a liability.   Lori has tried for over two years to come up with a solution to save the building and no one seems to have an answer.  Requests have been made for more volunteers, and NO one has stepped up.  So, the end of Clothes Quarters will be June 11th.  It is sad to think that we will not be answering the needs of our community.  A big thank you to all who have served in this ministry…you are going out with a positive review – everyone loves the store.  Thank you, Lori and Bob Seymour, for the hours you have put in during the week and the weekends with your crew.  You have been a GREAT service to the community and our parish.

People are wondering, "How can we help Fr. James while fr. Patrick is gone?"
Fr is looking for volunteers to minister to homebound folks at aspen Creek Assisted Living or Soldotna Senior Center or homes with folks that just cannot get out to go anywhere. Eucharistic Ministers for Communion service, reading scriptures or otherwise "spending time".
"Safe Environment online Training" via (www.aoaj.org) and a background check (done locally) are required to be allowed to assist in working with the public.

FIREARMS IN CHURCH

The archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau has a policy prohibiting the possession of firearms on church grounds.  Many of our parishioners carry concealed firearms when in public and some open carry.  When on church grounds and especially during Mass, please do not be visibly in violation of Archdiocese policy.
